December 05 Microsoft Vista and MSN problem 81000306Just managed to fix a damn frustrating little bug on Vista. Since installing last Friday, I couldn't get MSN Messenger to sign in. Kept getting the Error 81000306.. "We were unable to sign you in to Windows Live Messenger, possibly because of a problem with the service of with your internet connections. Please make sure you are connected to the Internet." I am connected to the Internet and when I use the Connection Troubleshooter in Messenger, it shows all test results passed.
I switched off all the Vista firewalls, checked the ports on the router, then realised MSN was still good on my old XP box so the router settigns are fine. Finaly admitting defeat, I turned to good old google and eventually turned up the following, thanks to David McGown:
- Click start
- Type: cmd - Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications - Click Run As Administrator - Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled - Press enter Clicked Sign in, and perfection...no need to reboot either.
Now I just have to fix my realtek sound drivers on this MS-7060 motherboard(661FM2-VLSR)
Other than the lack of sound, it's running ok.
Installed a new enterprise edition of VNC that I'll test from home tonight...old VNC and RAdmin just gave me a black screen, so I couldn't do anything remotely.
